Fun Science Activities With A Pet Snail (Free Download)
Do you have snails in your garden? GREAT! Yes…I said ‘GREAT’! My kids love this fun science activity with a pet snail.
Not only will your kids learn tons of science, a pet snail doesn’t bark, chew on the furniture or need shots.
Share Amazing Snail Facts with the Kids
Before the kids choose their snail…share this amazing fact. It will probably send them out the door in search of their perfect pet snail.
Amazing fact: Ask your kids if they would be able to carry a grizzly bear on your back, or 191 laptops, or a motorcycle, or 700 books. AND…would they be able to do that AND walk straight up a wall with this 700-pound load on your back. “IMPOSSIBLE!” you say?
Impossible for a human, but there is an animal that can lift ten times its own weight walking up a wall.
Choose a Snail
Kids love observing this amazing animal. All you need is a snail and a few things you already have around the house. Be prepared for the kids to want to spend time with their new pet. Gather your materials:
- Snail (look under wood, leaves, or pottery)
- A place for snail activities and plastic, paper or tin foil to keep desks clean
- Lettuce, celery or other greens
- A shoe box or container for Snail
